Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin that is essential for maintaining healthy blood and nerve cells, and for the production of DNA, the genetic material in all cells. It is naturally found in animal foods such as fish, shellfish, meat, eggs, and dairy products. Deficiency can lead to symptoms such as weakness, pale skin, anemia, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, and loss of balance.
