The EBV-IgG blood test is used to detect antibodies produced by the immune system in response to the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). IgG antibodies are a sign of a past or previous infection with EBV. This test is valuable for diagnosing conditions related to EBV, such as infectious mononucleosis and other diseases associated with the virus. The presence of EBV-IgG antibodies in the blood indicates that the body has been exposed to the virus in the past and has developed an immune response against it.
