Oxidized LDL

Aliases: oxLDL

Group: Lipid profile

Description:

Oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) is a form of LDL cholesterol that has been modified by oxidation. High levels of oxLDL are associated with various health issues such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, coronary artery disease, and others, mainly due to its pro-inflammatory nature and its ability to exacerbate endothelial damage. Circulating oxLDL is considered a sensitive marker of coronary artery disease (CAD) and is found to be associated with all stages of atherosclerosis, hypertension, and other cardiovascular diseases. Measuring oxLDL provides valuable information about the risk of cardiovascular diseases and the impact of oxidative stress on health.
