Description:

Homocysteine is an amino acid, a type of molecule that the body uses to make proteins. Normally, the body breaks down homocysteine using vitamin B12, vitamin B6, and folic acid. A homocysteine test measures the amount of homocysteine in the blood. High levels of homocysteine may indicate a vitamin deficiency or other health conditions.
